Lyrics to "The Power"

http://www.4shared.com/audio/JaixaNrQ/The_Power__XO_Senavoe_.htmlLyrics to "The Power" ~ X.O Senavoe, feat Jay Cube & Lois Asabere, prod. by KidKonnect

"THE POWER"

"Ay yo Waxi, turn up the headphones ... yeah, right there, right there"

"Haaa"

"Baptist, what's up man?"

Verse 1

If Power empowers, where the hell was Austin Powers when the fallen towers were falling on ours that morning hour?!?
Like JAG I (a)vow-er, and I, wanna devour those cowards if God allows us 24 hours - like Jack Bauer!
You know they call Voe numero uno from the continent, they already say my place is on top - like condiments (laugh)
Compliments have never made me, but I'll take the compl(e)ments and rhyme em together with any letters - call em conjugants!
If you dont know me, you'll probably Google "X.O Senavoe" right after this, and if you don't - blow me
These fluffy poodles, I eat rappers like they stroodles, only way we survived school was on pack of noodles - Indomie!
I grew up in Ghana yeah, and rep Nige-ria, so put your hands up in the air, this is gonna be our year!
The rumors is true, yeah Loopy's my crew, but who to pursue to be part of the group? I just stay low key
I spit it not just ok, Mola and Ovie, ain't it crazy how through the bloody maze I Wade like Roe v.
And the haters wane (Wayne) like Dwayne, you see our 'World's are so 'Different', I don't explain how I live mine, I just live it!
Put if I pick it up, I'm in it; And if I'm in it, I will win it; Michael Jordan in an NBA Final - I win it!
My momma passed when I was packing, so in passing when I'm packing, stop and think of how Momma passed and her passion!
And her fashion! And her actions like always dashing to her knees for God's direction and compassion
That's why for me giving up's never been an option, I throw the wind to caution, and put shit up for adoption
I'm "Cirque du Soleil" with every rhyme, my simplest lines got u pressing rewind 'til you hit exhaustion!
This beat is in a Hearse, I never (just) spit a verse, flip nouns verbs and words, lyrical contortion!

Chorus/Hook:

No time for Jagaga, I be my Baba son
X.O no yawa - we got The Power
Koko ni koko, u gots to know your own koko
Make u no follow follow - you got The Power!

No time for basabasa, na me be Papa son
E no be small tin ooo, we got The Power
Koko ni kono, na u dey drive your own motor oh
No Idikoko - you got The Power!

Verse 2

Baba God gave us the power, even simple words have power - Ask Obama or Osama, Bob Okala or Osuofia
One word can create Hiroshima, obliterate Utopia - The lyrical Okocha, scoot over lemme coach ya!
(X.O!)
I bet you read they callin me a legend already, Black and well re(a)d like Krueger Freddy, shreddin' up beats into confetti
They jelly/jellies - I'm Napalm! And now they palms are so sweaty way I'm steady cooking these classics like Raekwon (The Chef!)
My connect is Kid Konnect, we connected since day 1
We got the "P", no Master P, but we go make dem say - "Urrgghhhhh!!"
No token Sammy Davis, the greats are sayin' that I'm The Greatest, a Grammy shoe-in like laces - amazing like saving grace is
Everything I spit's acidic, basic niggus get your litmus
And to the Peters, Johns, James and Lebrons: Go out and "WITNESS"!
And let the people know my flow's on top of the pinnacle
Mercy Johnson's my centerfold, she calls me XO Senavoe (Senavoe)
Rap circles 'til Steve Urkels fall like Jericho
So tell em blohd claattt's (blood clots) they hatin' in vein - like varicose
No I don't do beef - you know the meat they killed TuPac over
All I do is me from Bolgantaga down to Abgoba
Punchlines so sick!! They been known to make you lose you lunch over
My verses (verse is) so bloody, angels pass over like its Passover!
And y'all know that NEPA will never put on the power, when politicians rake in cheddar selling us cheap ass generators
Its like they hate us (Ayyyyy), but WE are the ones who make us, no Mobutu Sesesekous, Idi Amins can never break us!
So take this!
I took the power in my own hands, I chose to make the most of God's gifts and be my own man
No jagajaga, basabasa, Mom I can feel you smiling proud, shining like the sun down on your son
And Pops'ee too - i know it's true
He said - 'Always believe in you, chisel your dreams with wrenches, pliers and hammers, tighten your screws'
I call em "The Power Tools'!
And you can do it too! Never let losers and doubters fool you into believin you through
You've got The Power too!

Chorus/Hook:

No time for Jagaga, I be my Baba son
X.O no yawa - we got The Power
No time for basabasa, na me be Papa son
E no be small tin ooo, we got The Power (2x)

"LOVE?"

"LOVE?"

Only thing I know 'bout love is that I know nothing
I hear it goes 'round and 'round like it’s globetrotting
First it lifts u up, and u don’t care ’bout nuthin’
Then it beats u down, like u stole something
I hear it’s longsuffering
Sounds like a lotta suffering
Not opining, call this LOVE CNN, which means I’m just reporting
I hear 13 Corinthians
Says love forgives and’s patient
Protects, trusts, and’s never failing
Is that what love is, should be? Real? Or is that the PC Version?

Here’s my one assertion
I’m not a fan of a lying hypocrite
Now there’s an understatement
She/he is my one aversion
You know the type that says things in versions
Very different stories per different persons
I know we not perfect
And I’m definitely not it
So I don’t expect it
But I've seen the worse of it
So it's hard to trust it
But if folks claim to love, aint they s'posed to mean it?
And if they so profess it, should we believe it?

He loved her, made her his wife and
She loved him, let him break hymen
Cut her up like diamonds
Backed her up like gammon
Now he’s gone, she’s wylin’
I know it's a bit graphic, but we goin' full immersion
So now the love's ended, and exes cast dispersions
And when love's unrequited, a heart is broken
And then the trend is to make up stories bout the person
Is love a four-letter-word?
It is
No cursing

I’ve seen some folks seem to think that lovin’
Means u always fightin’
Finding fault all the time, call it speaking their mind
It’s always something
Then making up makes up for all that griping?
Mental and emotional beating followed by cryin’?
Then long convos, ending in phone up-hanging?
Or, maybe, in “I love ya”s?
Perhaps some luvin’?
So is that the icing?
To this cake of love for which folks keep searching?

I don’t have an opinion, I’m not expressing a view
But I’ve seen booed up women holler at a dude
Then lie to their man to make him feel secure
Then tell their girls a different story, wanna appear like they pure
Disparage the unassuming, while they pretend to be demure
I’ve seen chicks and dudes with significant others
Always have a status up bout how much they love 'em
Then go about hollering and nut'ting
Ain’t that somethin’?
Or is that part of loving?
I don’t have answers, for real, I’m just doing the asking

I've heard that there are benefits
Like support and companionship
A constant right hand person
To share the good and bad and
The smiles and sorrows
Someone to hold on to into the morrow
A date for each occasion
No need for a rotation
Another committed to caring
A safe to store affection
Someone to call your own
Shout-out to Eric 'n' Sloan

But sometimes I wonder if
I’ve seen too much to trust and
Know too much to believe and
Whether it's worth that much and
If love requires intentional oblivion
Or if it’s really that important
There's only one thing I think I know about love:
The unconditional kind died when they went up above

"Pocahontas"

Some musings (not rap lyrics) I put down recently. Hope u enjoy (& comment too). Thanks! :-) ~ X.O

"Pocahontas"

With M.I, Jase, the three us
New York, Accra, then hit Jos
Now we in Lagos
We talk amongst us
Ten Billy Jeans all on us
They ‘posed to serve us
But instead they stalk us
Fawn us and gawk us
Mix up our orders
Ordered Moets
But got coronas
They ‘ssume we ballers
With Eu-ros, dollars
Want our cohonas
So flaunt they congas
On cue, they gang up on us
Form queues, then jump 'em for us
Like Q, they Dawn up on us
But they all sautéed, no angus
Luh (love) beefin', all antlers
Oh lawd, these chicks is bonkers
But not my Pocahontas
Classes above ‘em bamas
Flyer than saucers
Sweet like molassess
She like ‘em Mich Obamas
Jol’ Angelinas
Eva Longorias
Rosa Acostas
And I’m Mike Myers
L’Aust in her Powers
From dusk to dawnus
Truly astonish
-'N', it dawns up on us
That night is gone and dawn’s upon us
Last night was hot, huh?
We sweat-steamed it up, no sauna
Caused a rawkus
I swurr the neighbors saw us
And heard us
Err'time my fauna hit your flora
Ssss, babe we goners
Mushy like hummus
This here’s a bonus
It's like we get to keep for free four trucks
Of dough four drug lords loaned us
And now the onus on us
To do the hocus pocus
Focused like botoxed photogs
Almost at coitus 'ruptus
Closer to copus lotus
Sweet fumes Ali-in-Congo us
Rope-a-dope us
And dope us
En-ve-lope us
And goad us
Like high notes loft us
Satin threads below us
Til' groans and shrieks compose us
An aria to close our opus

ENTENDRES

W'dup fam, thanks for checking this out. This is NOT a real RAP verse. It's called "Entendres" because, though it's pretty short, almost each line has more than one meaning - two, three, etc. Also, lines are connected, sometimes four lines together, and so on. The "fun" (my bad, lol) is deciphering all the various (hidden) meanings, metaphors, 'entendres', etc. Let me know what you find.

"Entendres"

Simi-lar to green mint, base hits, ‘The Big O’
I Triple these Doubles
Entendres, like barbers, line-up Six teens - it’s simple
Should sneeze ‘fore u read this
The way each line bless u
To prosper like “no Weapon formed 'gainst" God's/Gib son

Lethal
I "X" these -Ray Charleses, with sheer wit, to see through
To how these ‘phors gorgeous
Zumunda's Queen Lisa
Regal
And the whips perform miracles, bird-yella Poupon
Grey-haired geezers get they Henny 'n Goose on
Save 'em a glass, cut it up like coupons
Serve 'em these bars for days, sentences life long
But when four fours are done, give ‘us us’ free like Djimon
Nikon cam shoot Dow'n these A-ver-age Jo(n)es
Nikkei
Thread lyrics into Affirmed pros(e), I’m a stud (Amistad)
Cinque
And I home-stretch zeros (O's), knock “M” out like TK
You wanted ‘you you' a free 16?
Well “This Is It”
I aM J
